On 11 November 2005, at its Annual Partners’ Meeting, Beachcroft Wansbroughs, the national commercial law firm, voted to convert to a Limited Liability Partnership on 30th April 2006. At the same time the firm will change its name to Beachcroft LLP.
Virginia Clegg, Propery Partner based at the company’s Leeds office comments, “The change of status will help to limit personal exposure to financial liabilities, and gives a clear message that the firm is becoming more transparent in its management structures and processes.
“Conversion to LLP allows us the opportunity to establish a Board with delegated authority. This in turn will speed up the decision making process, separate the ownership of the business from the day-to-day management and allow partners to concentrate on their role in building client relationships and delivering high-quality service. Paul Murray’s role as Managing Partner will be enhanced to enable him to pursue his aim of encouraging greater involvement in the business by all our people.
“The name change capitalises on our heritage, while reflecting the changes in the firm over recent years and our more contemporary and forward-thinking approach to the way we do business. We will, of course be developing a new brand identity to accompany the name change which will be implemented from 1st May 2006.”
At the end of October, Beachcroft Wansbroughs had over 1,300 staff and partners and the firm celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2012.
The Leeds team currently includes 21 partners and 157 staff. Its partners have particular expertise and experience in commercial property, public sector PFI/PPP projects, health, IT, construction, litigation, financial services and employment law.
