A CBI North West & NWDA conference, sponsored by Beachcroft Wansbroughs

Manchester's fastest growing commercial law firm, Beachcroft Wansbroughs, has teamed up with the CBI and NWDA to provide an essential conference for the region's business community. Company directors, managers and technology advisers will have an opportunity to attend the e-Value Matters - Transforming Business Online, a morning conference that delivers a genuine, practical insight into how to utilise the internet for the benefit of business.

The conference, which is sponsored by Beachcroft Wansbroughs, will take place on 22nd November from 10am to 12.30pm at Northern Technologies, Netherfield Road, Nelson and is free of charge. Booking forms can be requested by contacting Elaine Miller on 0161 787 6220.

Conference speakers will include Beachcroft Wansbroughs' partner and technology expert Pauline Cowie, a leading member of the firm's nationally acclaimed Technology and Commerce Team and one of 19 partners based at the Manchester office. Pauline advises on a wide range of technology law issues, outsourcing, information technology, data protection and e-commerce. Pauline's speech will serve as a gentle reminder that, even though collecting personal data by electronic means has made it far easier for companies than it has been in the past, it is still incumbent on them to adhere to the rules and legislation in place.

Commenting on the event, Pauline said: "We always welcome an opportunity to 'deal direct' with Manchester's business leaders and translate the implications of new or updated legislation into a commercial language they can understand. It's very easy for companies to take the internet for granted. Data protection legislation is in place and should not be overlooked because the data is being collected in a different way. This conference will provide clear guidelines as to what is expected from companies as far as this is concerned and suggest ways in which they can protect themselves from breach of the legislation in this area."
