Leading mechanical and electrical services provider EIC has now completed the mechanical and electrical work undertaken by its Southern region on a new performance hall for the Yehudi Menuhin school in Surrey, built in memory of the late world-famous violinist.

EIC Southern recently celebrated two new contract wins that confirm its status as a specialist in the field of education refurbishment and new build in both the private and public sector.

The region has been awarded the design and build mechanical and electrical contract in partnership with main contractor, Bluestone for work on the University of Southampton’s Developmental Origins of Health and Disease department (DOHAD). Enabling works on the £1.7 million contract are already underway with the main work due to start in February 2006 and finish in September 2006. The mixed use building will include offices, lecture theatres and laboratories.

The Southern team has also been contracted to carry out the design and build mechanical and electrical work on ‘Project Nelson’ - a brand new junior and senior school which will be built for Embley Park School to incorporate nearby Atherley School. The original manor house building, which is to be retained, is the ancestral home of Florence Nightingale. The £1.8 million project is due to start in January 2006 with phased completion dates set for May and August 2006.

Joint managing director of EIC, Nigel Le Marechal comments: “This year has been a fantastic year for EIC Southern with some pretty prestigious contract wins. We’re delighted with the work we have been securing in the education sector in the region and are pleased to be involved with working on such high profile contracts as the Yehudi Menhuin school.”

Approximately 50% of the office’s turnover during 2005 is attributed to the education sector with EIC Southern also demonstrating strengths in the retail and commercial sectors. The office has recently completed a major refit and extension project for Tesco in Yeovil and is due to start design and build mechanical and electrical work on 36 mix use light industrial units for a speculative developer.

EIC Southern is one of Hampshire County Council’s framework contractors, working with most of the major main contractors in the county.
