Six partners from the Leeds office of Beachcroft Wansbroughs have been named leaders in their field in Chambers UK, the annual guide to the legal profession which ranks law firms, solicitors and barristers in over 60 specialist areas of law. The firm also achieved a top tier ranking for its personal injury department.
Formed following independent interviews with a range of lawyers and clients, Chambers UK is one of the most respected guides to the legal industry. The rankings are based on a number of key criteria including technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness, diligence and commitment.
Overall, a further four departments at the Leeds office have been recognised for their expertise, including real estate, professional negligence, healthcare and litigation.
In the words of their peers, Beachcroft Wansbrough's personal injury team has adopted the 'right attitude' towards the complexities of the personal injury arena. The team undertakes a broad spectrum of cases, encompassing motor, employers' liability, public liability, disease and catastrophic injury cases.
The real estate team leapfrogs into the table this year as a result of its dramatic expansion. It has grown from a team of four to a team of ten lawyers and anticipates further growth in the year ahead. Virginia Clegg, head of the commercial property department, is described as 'responsive and enormously helpful and supportive'. The team is boosted by the addition of Simon Sherwood who joined as partner in April 2005.
The Leeds office has built a stand-alone commercial litigation practice and is also considered a strong contender in areas such as professional negligence and construction. Clients appreciate the partner attention and the fact that all of the lawyers are 'on the ball' and 'report back very quickly'. Peers view regional senior partner, Glenn Miller, as 'bright and commercially sensible'. He is experienced in commercial, financial and insurance litigation, and boasts particular specialist knowledge of fraud issues.
"The Chambers Guide gives the most accurate assessment of law firms, lawyers and solicitors in the country, so it is excellent to see six of our partners listed," says Glenn Miller, regional senior partner, Beachcroft Wansbroughs, Leeds. "These results are testament to the quality of our work and our ability to attract high calibre partners.
"Three of our partners have retained their leading status since 2004, and three are new entries. In addition, the litigation (general commercial) team has gained a higher ranking compared to 2004, and the real estate department is a new entry this year, illustrating the continued success and growth of the Leeds office."
