NEW STRATEGIC APPOINTMENT FOR WORLD-CLASS TECHNOLOGY TEAM

30th November 2005

Beachcroft Wansbroughs continues to expand its impressive Technology & Commerce team, with the recruitment of Chris Hoyle, former Head of Technology at McGrigors (previously Klegal and the legal arm of KPMG prior to the de-merger in 2001). Chris has more than twenty years' legal experience, including a number of years as part of IBM's in-house legal team.

Chris has extensive experience of advising major carriers, users and suppliers of IT and telecommunications services. He has negotiated IT and telecommunications agreements of all kinds for clients around the world, as well as corporate joint ventures for the provision of IT and telecommunications services in both the mobile and fixed sector. He has particular expertise in major IT and telecommunications outsourcing agreements. Chris also represents clients on regulatory matters, including interconnection and licensing, and he has advised governments on telecommunications sector reform.

Nick Holland, based in Bristol and head of the firm's national Technology & Commerce team, has already built up a global IT and telecoms practice. He welcomes Chris' appointment to the team, saying: "Technology underpins the work of so many businesses today, as well as enabling new channels to market, so we have seen a sharp increase in demand for our expertise in areas such as procurement, outsourcing, systems integration and licensing. Chris' breadth of expertise is exactly what we are looking for to help meet this demand and we are delighted that he has chosen to join the team."

Commenting on his new role, Chris adds: ""The Beachcroft Wansbroughs Technology team is already one of the best in the country, and is currently going through an exciting phase of growth. As well as continuing to work with firms in the technology and telecommunications sector, part of my remit will be to unlock opportunities to provide technology-based legal advice to existing clients in some of the firm's other key sectors, such as financial services, insurance and health. The team has excellent credentials and I am looking forward to working with them to expand our service offering still further."
