BEACHCROFT WANSBROUGHS ACQUIRES TECHNOLOGY LAW FIRM

National commercial law firm, Beachcroft Wansbroughs, is to take on all four lawyers from v-lex, a Sheffield and London-based law firm servicing major purchasers and suppliers in the IT, telecoms and technology sectors. The move is part of Beachcroft Wansbroughs' strategy to expand its highly successful Technology and Commerce practice in light of increasing demand from clients in the UK, Europe and the US.

The v-lex team of two partners and two solicitors will join Beachcroft Wansbroughs' 25-strong Technology and Commerce practice and will be based in the firm's offices in Leeds and London. v-lex brings specific expertise in business process outsourcing, a target growth area for Beachcroft Wansbroughs, as well as experience in advising clients on data protection, intellectual property, e-commerce and software licensing. Existing v-lex clients will transfer to Beachcroft Wansbroughs and the company will cease trading.

Nick Holland, Beachcroft Wansbroughs partner and head of the firm's Technology and Commerce practice, said: "Technology underpins the work of so many businesses today, as well as enabling new channels to market, so we have seen a sharp increase in demand for our expertise from clients in the UK and abroad. The capabilities of the v-lex team are well-known to us, combining excellent IT commercial and legal skills. We are looking forward to working with them, deepening our expertise in the BPO market, and continuing through this exciting phase of growth."

John Yates, Chief Executive of v-lex, commented: "The key to us joining Beachcroft Wansbroughs is that we will be working with people like us. Like v-lex, Beachcroft Wansboughs has a strong sector focus and a culture of delivering advice that is 'fit for purpose'. Our strong outsourcing heritage will fit well with Beachcroft Wansbroughs' international client base, whilst v-lex clients will be able to tap into Beachcroft Wansbroughs' range of technology experience, as well as legal services such as litigation and corporate law."
