The Manchester employment team at Beachcroft Wansbroughs has announced its most successful year to date with turnover up 20% and work from 11 major new clients, including iSoft plc, Littlewood Stores and Manchester Enterprises. The team, which has trebled in size in recent years, attributes much of its success to its style of working and its sector-focused approach.
"We have added four lawyers into the Manchester team within the last 12 months and expect this growth to continue in 2006, says Sue Jenkins, employment partner. "We have become a sought-after team to work in - we are devoutly committed to team-playing, flat management and hard work.
"Our sector-focused approach allows us to draw on the expertise of other practice areas within the business. This means that we don't look at employment issues in isolation - for example, working with our financial services team, we ensure that clients regulated by the FSA are compliant in the way they manage people.
"Feedback from clients tells us that our straight, practical talking - and our "can do" approach - is refreshing, as is our desire genuinely to understand their business. We are not afraid to invest our own time to achieve these close relationships - clients tell us that they appreciate the fact we don't always reach for the stopwatch."
The firm boasts employment specialists in a number of industry sectors - real estate, construction, financial services, health and technology, media and communications. Sue Jenkins is founding partner of the Manchester team, which provides a full range of employment services including tribunal advocacy and advice, plus support at strategic and operational levels. Particular areas of expertise include discrimination, TUPE and trade union and industrial relations.
The Manchester team forms part of Beachcroft Wansbroughs' national employment practice of over 50 lawyers across four locations. Short-listed for 'Employment Team of the Year' in 2005, the national practice has handled over 700 cases within the last 12 months, including the largest single test case in employment tribunal history.
