SOLICITORS STRENGTHEN SKILLS WITH UNIQUE DIPLOMA
Beachcroft Wansbroughs' solicitors Lianne Valente and Heather Dunlop have been awarded a unique commercial property diploma. Initiated by the Manchester-based firm in partnership with the University of the West of England (UWE), the jointly sponsored, postgraduate diploma is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK and counts towards a Masters degree at UWE.
"Lianne and Heather are the first solicitors at the Manchester office to achieve the diploma and we're delighted at their success", says Iain Moore, regional senior partner in Manchester. "The programme has been developed to ensure standards of professional excellence across our practice. It gives our solicitors a specific understanding of the commercial marketplace, and provides a well balanced mix of academia and practical experience."
Speaking about her success, Lianne said: "This is a really useful course and I'm delighted to have graduated - I've gained a broad range of skills that will complement my legal experience, so I'm now looking to take this one step further to try and achieve the Masters degree."
Iain Moore concludes: "In Manchester we have another ten solicitors who are expected to achieve the diploma this year. Nationally we have over 100 property lawyers in our team and we're hoping that within two years, more than a third of them will have completed the course."
The programme includes six, two-day courses on a specific topic, followed by a written and oral assessment. For further information on the diploma in commercial property, please visit the UWE website (www.uwe.ac.uk) or call Beachcroft Wansbroughs on 0161 934 3000.
