EIC HELPS TO 'SUSTAIN' MINSTEAD STUDY CENTRE
EIC has started work on site at Minstead Study Centre, in the heart of the New Forest, which is currently undergoing redevelopment and refurbishment led by main contractor, Mowlems.
The project is part of the Hampshire Framework Agreement and the £300k mechanical and electrical contract is the third consecutive job awarded to EIC by Mowlems. The Centre, which maintains a curriculum based around environmental issues and sustainability, is partly funded by the local education authority, ensuring wider access for local children.
Work is expected to take approximately 25 weeks to complete and will include rainwater harvesting, energy efficiency and sustainable energy sources (including a wood burning stove and solar water heating), recycling systems and eco-friendly and ethical products. The Centre will continue to welcome visitors during this period.
Nigel Le Marechal, joint managing director of EIC, comments: "We're absolutely delighted to be involved in a project that supports water and energy reduction as we are, ourselves, working as a company to promote sustainability. With this in mind, our single goal is to help the Centre to achieve key sustainability issues by helping to deliver both environmentally and user-friendly facilities that can be enjoyed by all visitors."
