Fast-growing leisure park business, Pure Leisure Group, has strengthened its team by appointing Nick Dodd as Group Finance Director.
Nick, a chartered accountant, joins Pure Leisure Group in this newly created role following a nine-year career with KPMG. A specialist in corporate finance, Nick has extensive experience in investment banking and mergers and acquisitions.
Working alongside managing director John Morphet, Nick will head a team of eight and will be responsible for over-seeing the finance function of the Pure Leisure Group.
The decision to appoint Nick in this new role follows four years of rapid growth for the business. Earlier this year, John Morphet purchased Northampton leisure park Billing Aquadrome in a multi-million pound deal. Also this year, the business was ranked 76th in the Sunday Times UK ‘Profit Track 100’ listing. Profits in 2005 rose to £11.5m.
Nick commented: “Only six years ago the business consisted of a handful of parks. Within that time it has grown to incorporate 14 leisure parks in the UK, a luxury estate in Barbados and a number of other overseas interests. Due to these developments, a need emerged for someone to be responsible for overseeing the finance for the whole group.
“My previous experience in investment banking is important to the role. Not only is it my responsibility to manage the finance of the group, but John felt it was essential there was someone to supplement the existing Board and further assist and advise him on the future strategic direction of the business.”
Nick formerly worked in the New York and Dublin offices of KPMG before returning to Manchester where he trained.
He added: “I am delighted on my appointment at Pure Leisure Group. This is a fantastic opportunity for me to work with one of the best, if not the best entrepreneur in the North West.”
Nick, 30, lives in Manchester and is based at Pure Leisure Group’s head office in Carnforth.
