A future lawyer from Bolton has been awarded a top prize from commercial law firm Beachcroft LLP, after achieving the highest second-year results in tort and contract law at Keele University. Rebecca Green gained a first-class Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB), placing her in the top 5% of law students at the University.

Ian McConkey a partner at Beachcroft, presented the £100 prize money to Rebecca at a ceremony held at the firm's Manchester office.

"We've been giving this award for seven years now to help recognise and support students who have the potential and motivation to be leading solicitors," said Ian.

"Rebecca has always wanted to be a lawyer and this determination is reflected in her excellent results. She does not have a legal background, so we will work closely with Rebecca to provide her with as much support as possible in applying to firms for a position that will help her to fulfil her long-held ambition."

Beachcroft has close links with Keele University - Professor Tony Dugdale is the firm's Chair of Negligence Law. Professor Dugdale is currently Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university and a former head of its law school. He is widely acknowledged as one of the UK's leading authorities on professional negligence law.
