Beachcroft boosts its ranking in Birmingham

This year's Legal 500, the largest independent guide to the legal profession, has revealed that Beachcroft's Birmingham office has increased its ranking in two practice areas and retained its position in four practice areas.

Moving up the rankings to achieve a top tier position, the professional negligence team is led by 'experienced solicitors negligence specialist', Marcus Thomson, who handles both private practice and in-house claims. Tracey Butcher's arrival is said to 'augment the firm's financial services sector expertise, including accountants' and actuaries' negligence claims.'

Also moving up a tier is the public sector team which has a recently been appointed to the Birmingham City Council panel.

Led by Sara May, the personal injury team has retained its top tier ranking with Andrew Roach recognised for industrial disease work and HSE prosecutions. Sara May is praised for 'playing a pivotal role in developing the firm's catastrophic injury practice'.

The construction, and sport practices have also retained their positions in the report. Thanks to department head, Martin Cannon, the construction team is 'making dramatic headway' in its sector. Headed by Bruce Ralston, Beachcroft's insurance-driven sports practice, also includes Andrew Roach.

Commenting on the results, Birmingham senior partner Martin Cannon said: "The positive feedback and praise received from our clients and the industry as a whole, reflects our continued commitment to the Birmingham market and our growing expertise and strength.

"A total of six Birmingham teams appear in the rankings this year, which is an excellent result for our office and testament to our ability to attract and retain high calibre clients and staff."

Overall, Beachcroft was ranked 41 nationally, and the survey summarised the firm as having achieved "one of the most successful diversifications of national firms: it is now recommended in planning, telecoms and EU and competition this year."
