PR006- Press Information

7 September 2006

Terca is launching a new range of clay facing bricks from its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Ewhurst, Surrey. Specifically selected by developers, architects and builders' merchants following a five-day testing event, the products have been designed to meet the growing demand for high quality wire-cut bricks in the South and South East.

With innovative names based on natural products and colours to reflect the bricks' core clay content, the new range includes the Caraway Multi, the Ewhurst Medium Multi, the Ewhurst Wisley Blend, the Morello Cherry, the Mulberry Blend, the Pistachio Blend, the Sienna Red, and the Wild Poppy Mixture. The products will be ideal for a wide variety of applications and projects, including repair work, maintenance and new build.

Andrew Jackson, managing director for Wienerberger Ltd, comments: "Our advanced production processes have allowed us to create a wide variety of effects, colours and textures that match the requirements of builders' merchants, local planners, developers and architects across the region.

"The naming policy indicates some of the unique features of these bricks and echoes the company's genuine commitment to achieving high levels of environmental performance."

Matching special shapes will also be available, including plinth stretchers, single cants and squints. Each brick surpasses BS EN 771-1 test requirements and are F2 S2 - frost resistant, with minimal water-soluble salt content.

Potential customers tested 34 of the company's clay facing bricks in March 2006. The direct feedback, recommendations and comments arising from the event have been used to develop the new product range.
