Lawyers from Beachcroft LLP are set to tackle a very different type of challenge as they join over 50 teams in the renowned Bristol Downs Amateur Football League.

The only law firm to take part in the league, and to be affiliated to the Football Association, Beachcroft is confident that its skilled solicitors can earn a place in the top ten of division four this year.

"The Downs League is one of the largest of its kind in Europe and is thriving in Bristol, says Gareth Holme, solicitor at Beachcroft LLP, Bristol. "There is a very limited number of companies playing in the competition, so we put ourselves to the challenge and formed a squad for the first time last year.

"Although we are up against some stiff competition, we found the time to train hard for this season, so feel we have a good chance of improving on last year's result!

Sporting a new football kit featuring Beachcroft branding, the team's next game is against 'Retainers A' on 12th September.

Formed in 1905, the Downs League started with 30 members, two of which are still playing in the league today. A number of players have left the league to turn professional and it continues to grow in popularity, with BBC Bristol regularly featuring and reviewing the fixtures.
