Adsteam's Liverpool operation has donated a cheque for £500 to Claire House, the local children's hospice in Bebington, Wirral, which provides specialist care and support for life-limited children and their families.
The money was raised through an internal Safety Award Scheme, which was introduced by Adsteam, the UK's leading towage operator, to reward good safety performance. Any of Adsteam's UK operations that achieve one year without a single lost time injury (LTI) is rewarded with a £500 cheque to present to a charity of their choice.
Commenting on the award, Port Manager David Waterhouse said: "Safety is a priority and a major factor in our success at Adsteam. Our crews work hard to maintain our high standards in this area. We are all pleased to receive recognition for our efforts and to be able to help a charity which contributes so much to local children suffering from life-threatening or limiting illnesses and their families."
Thomas Cummings, mate for the tug 'Collingwood', presented Claire House with the cheque. Representative of Claire House, Ron Hutchinson, thanked Adsteam Marine for their generous donation towards operational costs.
Adsteam UK is the country's leading supplier of towage services, with operations at: Liverpool, Thames & Medway, Felixstowe, Hull, Immingham, and Southampton.
