New CEO and managing director for Cheadle-based Wienerberger UK

Wienerberger has appointed Bert Jan Koekoek as chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director of its UK business.

Also CEO of the company's Dutch operation, Koekoek will use his experience to further strengthen Wienerberger's UK market position. His role will include overall responsibility for developing the Terca brand of clay facing bricks and the Koramic brand of clay roof tiles.

"I've spent eight years working at Wienerberger in The Netherlands and I'm now looking forward to using my skills and knowledge here in the UK," says Koekoek. "It's a very competitive market, but there are significant growth opportunities that we want to take advantage of.

"I will be looking to develop and enhance our UK strategy to ensure we can continue to position ourselves as the most dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking clay specialists in the market."

In addition to his new role, Koekoek will retain his position as CEO of Wienerberger's Dutch business. He will be based in both the UK and the Netherlands, spending half of his time at Wienerberger's head office in Cheadle, Cheshire.
