Following his leading role in a number of high-value deals over the last year, Jocelyn Ormond, an associate in Beachcroft's corporate finance team in Bristol, has been made a partner.
Since joining the firm in spring 2006, Jocelyn has played a key role in establishing the firm's corporate finance offering in Bristol, including advising Fabian Romania Property Fund on its €40 million AIM admission, and Topps Tiles on its £122 million return of cash to shareholders.
His appointment marks the end of a bumper financial year for the growing team which has managed deals worth a total value of over £400 million. This success includes the recent £75 million AIM flotation of St. Peter Port Capital – one of the largest transactions of its kind to be managed by a Bristol firm.
"Jocelyn's promotion is testament to his outstanding technical ability and commitment to developing our corporate finance business," said John Williams, partner and head of the corporate team. "Since we established the Bristol-based practice a year ago, we have gone from strength to strength, managing an increasing number of large and complex deals which would typically be handled by City law firms.
"Our strong AIM credentials and close links with our London-based team are enabling us to compete with these larger law firms on both cost and quality of legal advice. As a result we are not only working with clients of all sizes across the South West, but with an increasing number of national and international companies."
Jocelyn joined Beachcroft in 2006 from Allen & Overy LLP, where he was involved in a number of high profile transactions, including acting for Ericsson on its acquisition of Marconi's global businesses and for Maersk Oil & Gas on its $2.95 billion acquisition of Kerr-McGee's North Sea operated assets. Previous to that, Jocelyn was a corporate lawyer at Slaughter and May for seven years.
Beachcroft's national corporate finance team comprises more than 30 lawyers and advises on corporate transactions in both the private and public sectors. The team has particular expertise in AIM and PLUS flotations, mergers and acquisitions and private equity.
