Following on from the completion of work on the foyers and back of house areas of the Royal Shakespeare Company's The Courtyard Theatre, winner of a RIBA national award, last year, EIC is now on course to handover work on the Company's offices at the end of July.

The 12-week, fast-track project involves the installation of mechanical and electrical services to the Union Club - the RSC's old social club on Chapel Lane - and to a new-build annex designed to give the Company more commercial space.

Last year, the mechanical and electrical national expert assisted with the refurbishment and conversion of the RSC's small studio theatre, to create The Courtyard Theatre, a temporary 1000-seat venue. This latest piece of work has enabled EIC to work on a new-build property alongside an existing listed building.

Nigel Le Marechal, joint managing director of EIC, comments: "The team has paid particular care and attention to the old building as it is part of Stratford's heritage and, as a listed site, demands expert and meticulous handling. We are building up a strong portfolio of commercial work nationwide, however it is nice to be in Stratford doing it. Most of the team in the Midlands have been raised in or around Stratford and are familiar with the work of the RSC. We're delighted to be working for the Company and the main contractor, Leadbitter Construction, once again."
